The Empress Reversed As Feelings

This person feels emotionally needy, neglected, or unsure of their value.

They may want constant attention because they do not feel secure in the relationship. Jealousy or fear of losing you can make their behavior demanding.

The card may also show that they have given too much and now feel tired or unappreciated. Their feelings still exist, but resentment is growing around them.

What Does the Empress Tarot Card Mean?

The Empress represents fertility, growth, abundance and the power to nurture life into form. In a reading, she shows that something can flourish when it receives consistent care, whether it is a relationship, family, creative work or material endeavor. Give it time, attention and the conditions it needs to grow.

What Does the Empress Mean When Reversed?

Something that could develop is not receiving what it needs. A relationship may lack warmth, a project may be ignored, or you may be too tired to create and care as you normally would.

The reversed Empress can also appear when a person gives too much and receives too little. Care becomes a burden, and love turns into resentment. In other cases, the problem is too much attention: protection becomes control, and support prevents another person from becoming independent.

Return to the basic need beneath the problem. Ask what must be fed, protected, changed, or released so healthy growth can begin again.
