Old Favorites Finding New Popularity
Baby names often come back into fashion after spending years outside the top 100. Some return because parents rediscover traditional names, while others appeal to a new generation for their sound, style, or history.
Among boys, Arthur, August, Theodore, and Henry have a traditional feel, while Leo, Oliver, and Everett offer shorter or softer sounds. Biblical names such as Isaac, Jeremiah, and Gabriel also appear in this collection.
For girls, Hazel, Violet, Daisy, and Ruby bring nature and color to mind. Clara, Alice, Josephine, and Eleanor have a vintage charm, while Charlotte, Amelia, Emma, and Evelyn show how names with long histories can become favorites again.
Each of these names has experienced more than one period in the U.S. top 100, making them part of a continuing story of changing baby name trends.
What Makes a Baby Name a Revived Favorite?
Our Revived Favorites collection uses U.S. Social Security Administration baby name records from 1880 through 2025.
To qualify, a name must have entered the top 100, later dropped out, and returned for another run. Its latest top-100 run must still be active in 2025.
This makes revived names different from our Recent Favorites, which have only one continuous top-100 run, and Past Favorites, whose previous top-100 runs have all ended.
A revived name doesn't necessarily have to be rising in rank today. It simply needs to have returned to the top 100 and remained there in 2025.
