What Does the Name Nacy Mean?
Nacy is a spelling variant of the English feminine name Nancy. Nancy is usually said to mean "grace," from its association with Ann, which derives from the Hebrew name Hannah, meaning "grace" or "favor."
That is not the whole etymology. Nancy developed as an English pet form of Annis, a vernacular form of Agnes; Agnes goes back through Latin Agnes to Greek hagnos, "pure" or "holy." The two traditions overlap, so the name is commonly glossed as "grace," while its older derivation points to "pure."

Charles Dickens's Nancy in Oliver Twist (1838) is a well-known literary use, but it is not the name's earliest appearance.
