What Does the Name Aareon Mean?
Aareon is an English spelling variant of Aaron, which comes from the Hebrew name Aharon. The meaning of Aharon is uncertain. A long-standing explanation connects it with Hebrew har, "mountain," and gives the customary sense "high mountain" or "mountain of strength"; this is an interpretation, not a secure literal translation. Some scholars have suggested an Egyptian origin, and others propose a different Hebrew derivation, but none is established. Aareon shares Aaron's uncertain etymology rather than having a separate meaning.
Aareon Name History & Origins
Aareon is an altered spelling of Aaron and shares the older name's history. Aaron is the English form of Hebrew Aharon, the name of Moses' brother in the Torah. In the book of Exodus, Aaron is consecrated as Israel's first high priest, and the biblical priesthood is traced to him. The Greek Bible uses Aarōn, and the Latin Vulgate uses Aaron, forms that carried the name into Christian Europe. Jewish communities in medieval Europe used Aaron as a given name, and English Puritans later adopted it as a biblical name. The spelling Aareon adds an e before the final syllable of Aaron; it does not reflect a separate linguistic tradition.
